FAQ: To Answer Every Question You have And Even those you didn’t know you had.

What connection does this curriculum have to Johnny and Elizabeth Enlow, Restore7, and the seven mountains of culture?

Johnny and Elizabeth Enlow are speakers, authors, and co-founders of Restore7 Ministries. Their primary focus is to awaken, equip, and connect reformers—followers of Jesus who know they were created to know God and make Him known in His fullness not only as Savior in all the world, but also as the One who has practical solutions for all the problems of every broken area of culture. The mission of their ministry, Restore7, is to restore the seven aspects of who and how God is to society—bringing God’s better ways of doing everything to earth just as Jesus instructed us to pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” After publishing many books and resources to help equip believers to fulfill their kingdom purpose outside the four walls of the church, Johnny and Elizabeth co-authored an overview and condensed version of all previous publications titled RISE: A Reformer’s Handbook for the Seven Mountains. RISE stands for reformers influencing society every day. The new Students on the RISE Curriculum Is a reflection of the original RISE Handbook, specifically written for the next generation of Christian reformers.

Statement of Faith:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

What methodology was used in the creation of the curriculum?

Inquiry Based Learning is the primary teaching method used in the Students on the RISE Curriculum. Rather than the typical method of presenting facts and expecting students to repeat what they have memorized, inquiry-based learning allows each student to discover for themselves how God uniquely wired them with a kingdom purpose. The Students on the RISE Activation Journal prompts can be written, discussed or easily adapted for those who are more verbal or more visual.

Will this work as a Bible curriculum?

Yes, Students on the RISE Curriculum is a robust Biblically based academic experience for 7th thru 12th grade students that can easily be used as Bible curriculum. Included in the textbook is a facilitator’s guide, suggestions for extension and adaption that will work for a partial or entire school year. It can also be used more than once per student, as the inquiry-based learning style will produce new thoughts depending on the age and stage of learning. Each lesson builds upon the next, laying a firm Biblical foundation of understanding the basics of the Christian faith. Several scripture references are used per lesson. The lessons address teen issues related to God-given identity and their identity and life purpose. Every chapter concludes with an assignment that can be used as a graded test, if needed.

Will this work in a group setting as well as for individuals?

Yes, the Students on the RISE Activation Journal prompts can be used for independent study for home school and also as group discussion in a co-op or traditional classroom setting. The journaling can be used as homework assignments to be discussed with the group later.

Is this curriculum only for homeschool students, or can it be used in other educational settings?

SOTR was written by lead content developer, Dr. Ivy Bonk, a former Christian school administrator (with over two decades of experience in public and private education) and Elizabeth Enlow, co-founder of Restore7 (mother, and grandmother with over 18 years of home-schooling experience). The varied experiences of both Elizabeth and Dr. Bonk makes SOTR a great addition to any educational setting.

Is this a Bible study, a life skills course, or something else?

Students on the RISE was birthed out of the seminal work of Johnny and Elizabeth’s teaching on the 7 Mountains of Culture, and while this is the context there are many life lessons and opportunities for discovery throughout. Rich in Scripture and Biblical principles, it can be used as a Bible study, character values and life skills, as well as identity formation.

What makes Students on the RISE different from other Christian curriculums?

As mentioned, this curriculum was birthed from Restore7’s seminal work and one delineation or standout qualifier is that, rather than provide you with more knowledge, it purposes to equip you with the essentials to be a reformer and world changer in the community in which you live and serve.

What is the Seven Mountains teaching and how is it integrated into the curriculum?

Perhaps the best way for a parent/educator to understand the simple message of the Seven Mountains is to read the first chapter from RISE: A Handbook for Reformers on the Seven Mountains, which we are providing for you free here: You can also order the entire book here: Chris, can you please put two links here—one to the RISE Handbook in our bookstore and the other to a printable version of chapter one from the RISE Handbook.

How many lessons are included in the curriculum?

The Students on the RISE Textbook contains nine chapters which each include 10 lessons, for a total of 90 lessons. Additionally, there are Student on the RISE Activation Journals (Jr and Sr Levels) to supplement the lessons.

How long does it take to complete the curriculum?

Depending on the format of your school and the schedule available, there are several scenarios that you can consider: One scenario would be 18 weeks of daily lessons, if you have smaller blocks of time available. Or longer than 18 weeks, if you have larger blocks of time, but not as many days in each week. Always remember to make time for journaling, reflection, and discussion. You may also choose a hybrid model where you have students work on lessons outside of class. Another option is to create time blocks through the year focused on particular spheres or mountains. It could be used as a Summer School Institute and a recruitment tool as well. The hope in creating the curriculum was that teachers, pastors, leaders, and parents would use this as a seedbed to incorporate their own focus, gifts, and creativity. The extensions really are endless.

Can the curriculum be used for self-study or does it require a teacher or facilitator?

Students on the RISE can absolutely be used as a self-study.

What is the difference between the Jr and Sr Level Activation Journals?

The Jr and Sr Level RISE Activation Journals are both based on the core curriculum, but contain different questions. The Jr Level is more appropriate for a younger, less advanced student, while the Sr Level is slightly more advanced. If your student completes the Jr Level curriculum in 7 or 8th grade, for example, we suggest they use the textbook again in a later high school grade along with the Sr Level. Because the questions are different, it will provide reinforcement of what was previously learned and also serve to help them discover more their second time through. Some repetition is important for clarity of identity and life-purpose, especially prior to graduating and stepping into college or career.

Can this curriculum be integrated into an existing Bible or leadership course?

The simple answer is yes.

What format is the curriculum available in (print, digital, or both)?

Currently the Students on the RISE Curriculum is only available in print.
